Get The Kids Active During Easter Break

If lockdown taught parents anything it is how important it is to get the kids to be active every day to wear off some of their energy. That is why these tips on what to do with the kids over the Easter break could be invaluable over the next few weeks.

  • No bad weather

Firstly, it is important to remember adage by Alfred Wainwright, ‘There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing’. Who knows what the British weather will bring over the Easter break? One minute it is glorious sunshine and the next it is snowing. However, whether it is glorious sunshine or raining cats and dogs, it is good to get the kids out whatever the weather.

Make sure they are dressed appropriately and enjoy splashing in puddles, climbing trees, or, possibly, making snowmen!

  • Complete Daily Mile

If your youngsters need an incentive to get outdoors, why not encourage them to take part in the Daily Mile challenge? Every day, they need to walk, cycle, run or scoot a mile, and they can then show off their results to the rest of their classmates when they return from their holidays.

  • Go Geocaching

Young kids might be satisfied with going on an Easter egg hunt, but for the ultimate treasure trail, sign up your children to geocaching.

All you need to do is create an account on the app, find one of the hidden treasures, sign the logbook and return it in its place for other people to locate it in the future.

This is a great activity, as youngsters will love using phones to search for the items, but they’re still reaping the rewards of getting out in the fresh air!

  • Litter picking

Thanks to Greta Thunberg, most children these days are concerned about saving the planet. So why not encourage them to do their bit in the fight against climate change by getting them some litter pickers and scouring your nearby park or woods for rubbish?

  • Head to the beach

Brits don’t need sunny weather to enjoy a day on the beach, so head to your nearest seaside town for some fun running around in the sand, splashing in the sea and walking along the promenade.

  • Try a new activity

If the weather is really bad, there are plenty of activity centres you can head to these days that will still get their heart racing. You could take them to a trampoline park, a climbing wall, an inflatables centre, an ice-skating rink, or an indoor assault course.

A couple of hours here will break a sweat and help them get those steps in!

  • Day camps

For older kids, it can be harder to get them to try something new – if they are doing it with their parents. But if you sign them up to day camps where they have a go at different activities with other kids their age, they are bound to be more interested.

They could try kayaking, canoeing, tennis, roller skating, football or martial arts to name a few. Who knows? It might spark an interest to do it during term time too.

Whatever the children do, make sure they have the right footwear like Juniors Adidas LA trainer III J.
