What To Wear When Marathon Training In Winter

Marathons typically take place in the spring when the weather isn’t too hot or cold. But this means participants need to crack on with their training during the coldest and darkest months of the year. If you are planning to run a marathon in 2023, make sure you dress up appropriately for your practice runs.

Traction shoes

You’re bound to be very picky when it comes to choosing the right trainers to wear for your marathon. After all, you need them to be comfortable enough to wear for 26 miles as well as during training.

Motiv Running recommends buying trail running shoes for winter runs, as these will deal with snowy and icy conditions best. You don’t want to risk slipping and hurting yourself, as this could delay your training for several weeks.

Face masks

When it is really windy outside, it is a good idea to wear a face mask or balaclava when running. This will protect the skin from the harsh wind and keeps your head from losing too much heat. This helps the body to better regulate its temperature and reduces the risk of developing windburn.

Base layers

The trick to maintaining the right temperature when exercising in cold weather is to layer up, so you can strip off if you get too warm. Base layers are perfect to wear underneath your other tops, as they are best at keeping heat in and easily fit underneath other clothing.

One of the best trainers for your marathon practices is the Air Max 90 GS retro running shoe, as it has good grip and air cushioning.
